心理健康是健康的基础

Mental health is fundamental to health.

It is about all of us, it’s about those with serious problems but it’s also about you and me and how we deal with our own mental health… It is the ability to develop and maintain fulfilling relationships with other people.

For Chinese communities everywhere, language barriers, cost of services, and social stigma create significant barriers to accessing important services.

We need to work together as a community to address this.

我们是附属于麻州大学医学院华裔精神卫生项目的一个行动计划。我们的目标是提供注重于社区的精神卫生方面的文化教育资源,以达到降低耻辱感,鼓励寻求帮助,并创造一个支持性的环境。

为了抗衡耻辱感及推广心理健康,我们正通过不同的媒体平台,创建线上资源,分享侧重于符合当地文化背景的服务,同时我们也鼓励所有的人以文字,录音,录像,艺术品,及其他形式分享他们在心理健康方面的体验和故事。

 

We are a community-based initiative affiliated with the UMass Chinese Mental Health Program hoping to provide culturally appropriate mental health education and resources with the goal of decreasing stigma, encouraging help-seeking, and fostering a more supportive environment. 

In order to fight this stigma and promote mental well-being, we are creating an online resource to highlight local culturally appropriate services and provide a space for individuals to share stories about their mental health experiences.

您的故事具有巨大的力量 YOUR STORY IS POWERFUL

让我们一起向我们的社区证明,心理健康或者说精神卫生问题是真实存在的,并是有可能解决的。我们会将您提供的故事翻译成中英文,然后将这些故事和其他资源发布至我们的微信以及其他社交平台。我们知道语言/文化的障碍,可使您与家人探讨有关心理健康的事变得更加困难。因此,通过分享我们社区成员的真实故事及亲身经历,倾听和转述他们心底的隐秘痛苦和诉求,我们希望鼓励其他感同身受的人寻求帮助或探讨有关心理健康的问题,而不再是默默地独自承受。

Let’s work together to show our communities that mental health is real and that recovery is possible. You do not need to include your name or face if you do not feel comfortable. We will then translate and circulate these stories and resources over our WeChat and other social media platforms. We know that language/cultural barriers can make it hard to talk about mental health within families, so our hope is that amplifying and translating the stories and lived experiences of people from our community will encourage others to seek help instead of suffering in silence.
